"The American Organ Academy has been a blessing to Zion Lutheran Church. A year ago, our organist began studying with Dr. John Schwandt. The initial focus on leading liturgy and hymnody was very helpful in providing tangible skills. Our organist has grown in his ability to creatively lead hymns and to utilize the many colors of our organ in ways that have enhanced worship. Musicians and non-musicians alike have noticed our organist’s multi-faceted growth. In addition to musical growth, the AOA’s emphasis on equipping organists to care for and maintain the instruments they play has provided valuable knowledge and practical skills. Dr. Schwandt’s wise and patient instruction, personal integrity, and love for the church permeates his work with students."
